I want to switch from a verizon wireless voyager (V Cast Multimedia Phone w Touch Screen by LG) to a more simple version wireless LG (VX5500).

Can I do this by buying any LG 5500 on ebay, or is there a special "Verison" LG 5500 that I need to make sure I buy?

I also have a similar issue as well. I don't have same phone as above, but do want to change to a LG 5500. Any help on this would be appreciated.

I'm finding on ebay phones that say "This is not a GSM phone nor is it unlocked for other CDMA carriers."

    What does this mean?

Assuming that the phone wasn't reported stolen or lost and therefore the ESN is clear, all you have to do it go to your online manager and switch the device or call up customer service or go into a store and have them do it for you. It is very important, though, to make sure that the ESN is clear. I say this because a phone that was reported stolen or lost gets blacklisted by VZW and the ESN can never be used again; therefore, the phone cannot be activated. That said, just make sure that you're buying the LG VX-5500. All LG phones for VZW have the "VX" in the model number.
