If I get the LG tritan would I have to get a smartphone plan?

Likewise with any smartphone to get the rebate and price with activation on a plan you have to go with a smartphone plan.

If you want the phone and have the money but don't want to use the smart phone plan
you can buy the phone outright, very expensive, and activate it on any plan.
