I'm new to this site and cell phones. last month I signed up for tha ATT family plan. I have a lg neon phone. i do not want to use the phone for internet but if i have ATT block internet usage I cannot send text with photo or voice and cannot instant message. the real problem is how the service and phones are designed. if you accidently hit the ATT logo in the center of the phone you go right to the internet. if you go to the menu page you go right to media mall. ATT makes it very easy to accidenty connect to the inernet by mistake. I'll be dealing with them next.

I would like to know if there is a way to disable access to the internet by changing a setting in the phone or removing the icons in the menu. I'm not good with phones but I'm sure there must be a way to disable access to the internet without having ATT block it.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please bear in mind if you have a solution I know nothing about how to change settings in cell phones. Thanks...

You can try to create a dummy internet profile.
Should be in the menu and connection settings (look at the book maybe?)
Make a new connection, and put random stuff in there, then set that as default.

It will kill any internet connection, but should still be able to receive and send text messages.

I'll go check out a Neon this weekend and find out the exact steps to do this.

I went to the settings and created a profile but there is no option to set it as default. Not sure how to do it. there shoud be a way to diable the features you don't want to use like on a computer. guess they really want you to soak up those internet minutes. thanks for the info.

You should be able to change (reorder) the menue list:
Something like phone; settings; applications; reorder...
Move the internet and other unwanted icons to the end of the list.

I went into settings, phone settings, set shortkeys. this allows you to change the up, down, left and right short keys on the front of the phone but there is no option to change the center key which brings you immediatly to the internet browser. I don't know much about cell phones but I have been looking at all the setting options and it does't seem to be a way to change the internet setting so i don't accidenty get to the internet. thanks.

I have tried every way to disconnect the browser with no success. When AT&T disabled the browser we could no longer use our picture messaging service we were paying for! I guess I will keep calling AT&T to complain and request they take the charges off (from when the center browser button is accidentally hit, we have 3 of the LG Neons and do NOT want to pay for internet.) If anyone finds a way to disable this button please let us know! Thanks
