Lg Glimmer Help

hi i have an alltel Lg glimmer (ax 380) i really like my phone and i dont want to have to get a new one but every time i trie to send a pic, get on the internet, use gps, real tones ringtone store, etc. i recieve the same message every time " 1xRTT network not available".
I have called tech support for alltel (before the transition to verizon" they couldn't help so i gave up. I tried again a few weeks later and got verizon tech support ( a huge mistake) I waited over 2 hours on hold to get some foreinger whom couldn't help me nor could i understand. I tried again and an american whom couldn't help either everyone said " take your battery out for 30 seconds put it back in and dial *228 and do option 3" which obiously showed their ignorance when there was no option 3 it would say "that is an invalid command" But i got that from every one of the eight reps i talked to. so i called Lg product support they said it was my network and redirected me to vzw tech support. but yet my brother's, sister's, mom's, dad"s and grandmother's phones were all properly working and could acess the web


I Have tried every thing i know to do (and thats a LOT just kidding )
