memory card question

Hey when i put my memory card in it says card not ready. I have a sandisk 256mb. Am i supposed to do something befor i put the card in to get it to read because it doesn't seem to be doing it now. Thanks

Do you get any kind of format option? I've found that you may need to format the card in/for the specific device. I once tried to format a memory card on my PC, and then when I put it in a digital camera it was not recognized and I had to format it for the camera...
