I searched the forums for LG 230 and LG Nite and found 0 posts so I am assuming that this is a new phone to the forums. I'm trying to find the USB drivers for Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Windows 7 says I need to go to a specific portion of the LG website which is unresponsive.

Is it just me or does it appear that there isn't any supporting software for phones that are no 'smart phones'? You have to buy the data cable separate as well as any software that may be out there for the phones. Am I just niave(sp) enough to think that these should be included with the phones?

i'm also wondering the same thing. have you had any luck?

i did find something on the LG site, a zip file with drivers, but it was so unspecific that i stopped the installation. the whole usb-modem thing completely confuses me.

my laptop & the phone recognize each other & are paired, but i can't transfer anything due to the fact that the driver for the phone hasn't been found on the laptop (i guess).

it's all totally confusing, & all i'm trying to do is send a few decent ringtones to the dang phone...

Hmm, looks like we have the question that needs to be answered. Maybe let's check back later and see if we can find something new...

Re: New phone? LG Nite (LG 230)

unfortunately i'd emailed LG previously & they were absolutely NO HELP whatsoever. it's like they don't want me to be able to go into my phone & even add ringtones!

i downloaded the usb modem zip file, but my computer still isn't finding the driver it needs.

i can't stand these ringtones! i have it at the highest volume possible & set for the only regular ring (as a stupid song could easily be ignored or lost in the crowd), & i can barely hear it!

    this is really getting annoying....

p.s. when i try to plug the phone into my computer, i can "view" it in 'my computer' but then it says windows explorer has stopped working anytime i try to do anything other than that.

i remember downloading some software somewhere for another lg phone.. suppose i'll have to look into that again (although i never got it to work previously w/the other LG).

    Try this:
    1) Run as administrator
Vista and Win7 users, right click on the shortcut of XXX.exe and select Properties.
In the Properties window, go to the compatibility tab.
Check the option that says Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service pack 3)
Check the option that says Run this program as an administrator and click on OK.

    2) Manualy install driver
Uninstall any drivers you previously tried.
    Save desired driver to desktop.
Plug in phone, on phone select USB disk drive.
Open Device Manager and manually reinstall this driver ie. "install from a list" follow along until u bring up the phone, then "I have disk" find driver you downloaded and open 'til you get to the driver and install may take several minutes for sure! RESTART
