So this is really annoying. For about two days now my phone has been constantly turning back on. I'll let it wait for the 10 seconds or so that it needs for the screen to go black, and as soon as it does go into it's hibernation it turns back on instantly. This gets really annoying because it drains the battery like crazy since the backlight is on all the time now. In order for me to keep it in my pocket my phone needs to be locked all the time now which is also annoying when I want to type something in and I have to unlock before I do. Does anyone know how to get my backlight to stop coming back on every two seconds?

PS: My phone is about 4 years old so maybe it's just about to die but I love my phone and don't want to replace it. I only use my phone for texting and the rare occasional phone call. I don't need a fancy smart phone so this is perfect for me.

Maybe one of the buttons is stuck or starting to stick? It's possible that grime has worked its way into cracks and is making the phone do funny things. You may want to consider taking it apart to clean.

The other option is to search for a used one on Electronics, Cars, Fashion, Collectibles, Coupons and More Online Shopping | eBay or craigslist.org

Have you tried completely turning it off and restarting it? Sometimes that actually works wonders. I tend to forget to turn mine off ever. I usually just put it on the charger at night, and that's it. Every now and then, it needs a restart.

Like tavenger5 said, if you can't figure out what the problem is, you can purchase one on eBay. The prices of these older phones are really going down. You can probably even get a phone that you can consider an upgrade for a decent price.

What carrier are you on? I think there was a phone called the LG Banter Touch on MetroPCS. Is that the carrier you're with?

I am with US Cellular. With it being memorial Day weekend, I've been too busy to run up there and ask their opinion. Yes I've turned it off, taken the battery out, etc. Nothing has worked. However I don't have a scewdriver or anything small enough to take apart the phone to clean it. The screws are about half the size of what my glasses kit will work with.

You can try resetting it by going to Settings, and Security, typing it the lock code (if you don't have one, it might be the last four digits of your phone number), and then choosing the reset option. This should delete everything on the phone and reset it back to factory settings, so you will probably loose all contacts, text messages, pictures, etc.

If it's a hardware issue, such as a problem with the button, this won't help. But if it is a glitch with the software, resetting it might.

If you have another idea or want to take it to the store first, I'd recommend doing that, unless you don't mind losing everything on the phone, then you can reset it.
