Master Resetting the Device

Resetting Through the Settings Menu:

Master resetting your device will bring your smartphone back to the original factory settings. Resetting can help assuming that your device does not boot up, is sluggish, freezes a lot or you experience other grave issues with it. WARNING! Master resetting your smartphone will result in loss of personal data, such as downloaded content, applications, ringtones, photos, videos and more. However, master resetting will not erase content saved on the SIM card.

  1. Before resetting your smartphone, you may want to back up the data stored on your phone. (Click here if you want to learn how to back up and restore data)
  2. While viewing the home screen, press the "Menu" button
  3. Select "System settings"
  4. Tap "General"
  5. Tap "Backup & Reset" and then tap "Factory data reset"
  6. Select "Reset phone"
  7. Tap "Erase everything"
  8. After reviewing the warning message, press "OK"

Master Resetting via Hardware Keys:

Much like resetting your device through the settings menu, resetting via hardware keys will result in loss of data. Use the hard reset method if your phone will not boot up completely or you can't reset via the settings menu

  1. Back up data if necessary (click here to learn how)
  2. Power off the device
  3. At the same time, press and hold the "Power", "Home" and "Volume down" buttons for about 8 seconds
  4. Once the "Factory hard reset" screen appears, release the buttons
  5. Press the "Power" button to confirm the reset, and allow the process to complete


Safe Mode

Booting up in safe mode allows you to turn on your device with all of the third-party applications disabled. Use this method if a recently installed application prevents you from starting up your device.

Enabling and Using Safe Mode:

  1. Press and hold the "Power" button on your device
  2. Tap and hold "Power off"
  3. Review the "Reboot to safe mode" screen and then tap "OK". Note: after the device restarts, the text "Safe mode" should appear in the lower-left corner
  4. Uninstall any applications that causes issues with booting up normally

Disabling Safe Mode:

  1. From any screen, press and hold the "Power" button
  2. Tap "Power off and restart"
  3. Press "OK" to confirm, and let the boot up cycle to perform normally
