Clearing an App's Cache / Data:

NOTE: assuming that one of your applications is not working properly, it crashes etc. you can try fixing these problems by clearing the application's data or cache.

WARNING! Keep in mind that by clearing the app's data, you will also delete all personal information stored in the app, including settings, saved games, credit card information etc.

NOTE: Clearing an app's cache will not result in data loss, so it's highly recommended that you try and fix these issues using this method first.

  1. While on the home screen, press the "Menu" key
  2. Tap "System Settings"
  3. Go to "General"
  4. Tap "Apps" under "Device"
  5. Swipe to the "All" screen
  6. Select the desired application
  7. Tap "Clear cache"
  8. If clearing the cache hasn't solved the issue, tap "Clear data", and tap "OK" to confirm

Wiping the Phone's Cache:

NOTE: If your smartphone is not working as intended and you plan on master resetting it, then you might want to try and fix these problems by first clearing the phone's cache partition. Unlike master resetting the phone, clearing the cache will not delete personal data stored on the internal memory. To wipe the cache:

  1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Access the "General" tab
  4. Wait for the device to finish calculating the cache
  5. Tap "Cached data" and press "OK"
  6. Wait for the cached data to clear. Once the process is done, the screen will refresh and no cached data should be listed

Safe Mode Management

NOTE: Safe mode is a great tool that allows you to reboot your smartphone without third party app support. This means that all third party applications are disabled, and this can come in handy in case you've installed a malicious app that prevents from stopping or uninstalling it while it runs.

Enabling Safe Mode and Removing an Application:

  1. Press and hold the "Power" button
  2. On the pop-up window, tap and hold "Power off"
  3. Review the "Reboot to safe mode" screen and press "OK"
  4. The device will reboot, and a "Safe Mode" label should be present in the lower-left side of the screen
  5. To remove an application, press "menu" while viewing the home screen
  6. Tap "System settings" > "General"
  7. Under "Device", tap "Apps"
  8. Swipe to the "All" or "Downloaded" screen
  9. Select the application that you wish to remove
  10. Tap "Uninstall" > "OK"
  11. To exit safe mode, press and hold the "Power" key and tap "Power off and restart". Lastly, tap "OK" to confirm
