Data Backup

Backing Up Applications:

  1. While viewing the home screen, tap the "Apps" icon
  2. Tap "LG Backup"
  3. Review the introduction information, assuming that this is the first time opening the app
  4. Tap "Agree" in the "End User License Agreement" screen
  5. Tap "Manual backup"
  6. Select the desired backup location and tap "Next"
  7. Tap "New backup". NOTE: to overwrite a different backup file, tap "Overwrite" instead
  8. Enter the name for the backup file and tap "Next"
  9. Mark the check boxes associated with "LG Apps" and "Downloaded apps"
  10. Tap "Backup" > "OK"

Backing Up Contacts:

  1. Open the apps drawer and launch the "LG Backup" app
  2. Review the introduction if necessary
  3. Tap "Agree" in the "EULA" pop-up
  4. Select "Manual backup"
  5. Choose a backup location and tap "Next"
  6. Tap "New backup", or "Overwrite" if you wish to replace an existing backup
  7. Type in a name for the backup file and tap "Next"
  8. Mark the "Personal data" check box and tap "Backup"
  9. Tap "OK"

Backing Up Media Files Using a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the LG VOLT to your computer using the USB cable
  2. Tap "Media sync (MTP)" on the smartphone when prompted
  3. In the AutoPlay window on your computer, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
  4. Navigate to where the media files are stored on your smartphone
  5. Copy the desired files, and paste them in the backup location on your PC's HDD
  6. Once the transfer is done, click "Safely Remove Hardware" from the system tray
  7. Click "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" > "OK"
  8. You can now disconnect your smartphone from the computer

Restoring Data

Restoring Applications:

  1. While viewing the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Tap "Backup" > "Restore"
  3. Select a backup file from the list and tap "Restore"
  4. Review the warning information and tap "Yes"
  5. Your smartphone will now restart

Restoring Contacts:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Tap "Backup" > "Restore"
  3. Choose the backup file containing your contacts
  4. Tap "Restore"
  5. Tap "Yes" in the warning information window
  6. Wait for your smartphone to reboot

Restoring Media Files from a Windows Computer:

  1. Establish a connection between the VOLT and the computer via USB
  2. When prompted, tap "Media sync (MTP)" on the smartphone
  3. From the AutoPlay window on the PC, click to "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
  4. In a separate Windows Explorer window, locate the backed up files on your PC's hard drive
  5. Copy the files, and transfer them on your phone's memory
  6. After the files have been copied, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon located in the system tray
  7. Click "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" > "OK"
  8. It's now safe to disconnect your smartphone
