Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Tap “Apps” on the home screen
- Go to “Settings”
- Swipe to “Device” and tap “Battery”
- Tap “Power saver”
- Tap the Power Saver switch “ON”
- You can select a battery percentage for the saving mode to enable automatically
- Select or clear the check boxes next to the available battery saving mode features, such as “Bluetooth”, “Auto-sync” etc.
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
- Tap “Display” > “Brightness”
- Drag the brightness slider to the left to decrease screen luminosity
- From the “Display" menu, tap “Screen timeout” and select a lower value, such as “15 seconds”
Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:
NOTE: You can prolong your phone’s battery life by disabling the connectivity features whenever they are not in use. This includes Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth and GPS.
- From the phone’s “Settings” menu, tap “Tethering & Networks”
- Tap “Mobile Hotspot” and clear the check box to disable the feature
- Tap “Back” to return to the “Settings” screen
- Swipe to “Personal” and tap “Location access”
- Clear the check box next to “GPS satellites”
- Return to the home screen and drag the “Status” bar down
- Tap the “Wi-Fi” and “Bluetooth” tiles to disable these features
Change App Sync Settings:
NOTE: Setting your phone to sync less data can improve battery life on the long run.
- Go to the “Settings” menu
- Under “Personal”, tap “Accounts & sync”
- Clear the “Auto-sync data” check box
- You can change / reduce sync settings for an app by selecting it
Disable Background Data:
- Go to “Settings”
- Tap “Mobile data”
- Press “Menu” and enable “Restrict background data”
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some of your third party applications can affect your phone’s battery life even when you don’t use them – assuming they run regular processes in the background. As such you can improve battery life by disabling or removing these applications.
- Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
- Swipe to “Device” and tap “Apps”
- Select the desired application
- Tap “Disable” to turn off the app, or tap “Uninstall” to remove it completely
Switch to 2G from 4G:
- Access the “Settings” menu
- Tap “Networks”
- Swipe to “Tethering & Networks”
- Tap “Mobile networks” under “Network”
- Enable “Use only 2G networks”
Check for OS Updates:
NOTE: Some software updates can include improvements to battery life, so it’s advised that you keep your phone up to date. To check if new updates are available for your phone:
- Go to “Settings”
- Under “System”, tap “About phone”
- Tap “Update Center” > “System updates”
- Tap “Check now” and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to install the update
