WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all of the personal data on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted, including ringtones, apps, downloaded content, contacts etc. In addition, all of the phone’s settings will be restored to factory values, but data stored on the SD and SIM cards will not be removed.

Master Reset via Settings:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Access “Settings
  3. Tap “Menu” and select “List view” if necessary
  4. Under “Personal”, tap “Backup & reset
  5. Select or clear the “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore” check boxes
  6. Tap “Backup account” and follow the on-screen instructions to sign in with, or create a Google account
  7. Tap “Factory data reset” and optionally, enable or disabled “Erase SD card
  8. Tap “Reset phone
  9. Tap “next” > “Delete all” > “OK

Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: In case your phone prevents you from resetting it via Settings (method above), you can also try factory resetting it via Recovery. The recovery menu can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses.

  1. First, turn off the phone
  2. Next, press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” simultaneously
  3. When the “LG” logo pops-up, release and quickly re-hold “Power
  4. At the “Factory data reset” screen, release all hardware buttons
  5. Press “Volume down” to highlight “Yes
  6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  7. Highlight “Yes” at the “Erase all user data and restore default settings "pop-up
  8. Press “Power” to confirm and wait for the phone to reset and reboot

Checking for Firmware Updates:

NOTE: After master resetting your phone you should check and see if newer software updates are available for download. To do so:

  1. Ensure that the phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network
  2. Open the apps drawer
  3. Access “Settings
  4. If necessary, tap “menu” and switch to “List view
  5. Scroll down to “System” and tap “About phone
  6. Tap “Update Center” > “System updates
  7. Tap “Check for Updates” and assuming that an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to install it
