Transfer Audio Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Nexus 5X to your computer via USB
  2. Swipe the “Status” bar down and make sure the phone is connected as a “Media device (MTP)
  3. Open an Explorer window on the computer
  4. Locate the media files on your computer
  5. Copy the files, and transfer them on your phone storage (preferably in the “Media” > “Alarms” / “Notifications” / “Audio” directories)
  6. Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage from the system tray, and safely disconnect the device from the USB connector

Change the Phone’s Ringtone:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Sound” under “Device
  3. Scroll to “Call Ringtone & Vibrate”, and tap “Phone ringtone
  4. Select the ringtone you want to use
  5. Tap “OK
  6. Optionally you can disable or enable “Also vibrate for calls

Change a Contact’s Ringtone:

NOTE: You cannot set custom ringtones for contacts stored on the SIM card or the phone’s internal memory.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Contacts
  3. Select a contact
  4. Tap “Edit” > “Menu
  5. Tap “Set ringtone” and select the desired ringtone for the contact
  6. Tap “OK” to save the changes

Change the Notification Sound:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Tap “Sound & notification” under “Device
  3. Tap “Default Notification Sound” under “Sound
  4. Select a notification sound and press “OK” to confirm
