Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Access the “General” tab
  4. Scroll to “Phone Management” and tap “Battery & power savings”
  5. Tap the “Battery saver” switch to enable the feature
  6. Select a battery level at which battery saver mode enables automatically

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Tap “Settings”
  3. Access the “Display” tab
  4. Scroll to “Basic Settings” and tap “Brightness”
  5. Drag the brightness slider to the left
  6. From the “Display” tab, tap “Screen timeout” and select a lower timeout duration, such as “15 seconds”

Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:

NOTE: By disabling your phone’s connectivity features whenever they are not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings” and go to the “Networks” tab
  3. Scroll to “Connectivity” and tap “Tethering”
  4. Tap “Mobile Hotspot” and disable the Hotspot switch
  5. Tap “Back” to return to “Settings”
  6. Tap the switches associated with “Wi-Fi” and “Bluetooth” to disable these features
  7. Access the “General” tab and scroll to “Personal”
  8. Tap “Location” and tap “Mode”
  9. Select “Battery saving (Networks only)”

Switch from 4G to 2G:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Tap the “Networks” tab
  3. Scroll to “Connectivity” and tap “More”
  4. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Network mode”
  5. Enable “Use only 2G networks”

Disable Background Data:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Tap “Mobile Data” under the “Networks” tab
  4. Tap “Menu” and select “Restrict background data”
  5. Tap “OK”

Change the Sync Settings:

NOTE: By lowering the amount of data synced with your device / apps / accounts, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Access the “General” tab
  4. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts & sync”
  5. Clear the “Auto-sync data” option
  6. Under “Accounts”, select an app to change its sync settings

Minimize the Use of Third Party Applications:

NOTE: Certain third party apps can affect your phone’s battery performance even when you don’t use them – assuming that the apps run regular processes and tasks in the background. As such, you might be able to improve battery life by removing or disabling unused third party apps.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Access the “General” tab
  3. Scroll to “Phone Management” and tap “Apps”
  4. Go to the “Downloaded” tab
  5. Tap and hold the desired app
  6. Select to “Force stop” to disable the app, or tap “Uninstall” to remove it completely

Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life, so you should keep your OS up to date. To check for new updates:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings” and go to “General”
  3. Scroll to “Phone Management” and tap “About phone”
  4. Tap “Update Center” > “System updates”
  5. Tap “Check for update” and if a new update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it
