Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Tap “Settings
  3. Go to the “General” tab
  4. Scroll to “Phone Management” and tap “Battery & power saving
  5. Tap the “Battery saver” switch to “On
  6. Select the battery percentage at which Battery Saver enables automatically

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Access “Settings
  2. Go to the “Display” tab
  3. Tap “Brightness” under “Basic Settings
  4. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease screen luminosity
  5. Tap “Screen timeout
  6. Select a lower timeout value, such as “15 seconds” or “30 seconds

Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when unused (including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, GPS), you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings
  3. Access the “Networks” tab
  4. Tap “Tethering” under “Connectivity
  5. Tap “Mobile Hotspot” and tap the switch to disable this feature
  6. Press “Back” to return to “Settings
  7. Tap the “Wi-Fi” and “Bluetooth” switches to disable these features
  8. Go to the “General” tab, and tap “Location” under “Personal
  9. Tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving (Networks only)"

Switch to 2G Connectivity:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G connectivity.

  1. Tap “Apps” and go to “Settings
  2. Access the “Networks” tab
  3. Tap “More” under “Connectivity
  4. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Network mode
  5. Check “Use only 2G networks

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some of your third party apps can affect your phone’s battery performance even when unused, due to the fact that certain apps perform regular background processes. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Go to “Settings
  2. Access the “General” tab
  3. Tap “Apps” under “Phone Management
  4. Access the “Downloaded” tab
  5. Tap and hold the desired application
    • Tap “Force stop” to disable the app
    • Tap “Uninstall” to remove the app from the phone

NOTE: Recent tests have shown that the Facebook and Facebook Messenger apps can have a great negative effect on battery performance. Thus, if possible you should consider using an alternative app instead, such as Facebook Lite.

Disable Background Data:

  1. Open the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Access the “Networks” tab
  3. Tap “Mobile data
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Restrict background data
  5. Tap “OK” to confirm

Change App Sync Settings:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings
  3. Access the “General” tab
  4. Tap “Accounts & Sync” under “Personal
  5. Uncheck “Auto-sync data
  6. Under “Accounts”, you can tap an application to change additional sync settings

Keep the Firmware Updated:

NOTE: Certain software updates can include battery life improvements, thus it’s recommended to keep your phone up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings
  3. Access the “General” tab
  4. Scroll to “Phone Management
  5. Tap “About phone” > “Update center
  6. Tap “System updates” > “Check for update
  7. If necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update
