Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: If one of your applications doesn’t work as intended, crashes, freezes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you might be able to fix these problems by clearing the app’s cache / data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all personal information stored within the app, such as login and credit card information, profiles, saved games, high scores etc. will be deleted. As such, to avoid losing data it’s recommended that you clear only the app’s cache.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings
  3. Tap “General” > “Apps
  4. Swipe to “All” and select the desired app
  5. Tap “Clear cache
  6. If clearing the app’s cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” > “Yes” to confirm

Reboot in Safe Mode to Remove an App:

NOTE: In case you have installed a third party application that causes problems and prevents you from removing it from your phone, you should be able to uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled. To enter Safe Mode:

  1. While viewing the home screen, press and hold “Power
  2. In the pop-up window, tap and hold “Power off
  3. At the “Restart in safe mode” prompt, tap “OK” to confirm
  4. Wait for the phone to reboot. Once done, you should see a “Safe Mode” label in the lower-left corner of the screen
  5. To remove an app from Safe Mode, tap “Apps” and go to “Settings
  6. Tap “General” > “Apps
  7. Swipe right to “Downloaded
  8. Select the desired app
  9. Tap “Uninstall” > “OK
  10. To exit Safe Mode, press and hold “Power” and tap “Power off and restart

Wipe Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your phone freezes, crashes, is oftentimes unresponsive or runs out of storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the cache partition.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Access “Settings
  3. Tap “General” > “Storage
  4. Wait for the device to finish calculating data, and tap “Cached data
  5. Tap “Yes” to confirm and clear the cache
  6. Once the process is done, you should see no or a small amount of cached data
