WARNING! When you factory reset your device, all personal data located on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted. This includes downloaded content, media files, ringtones, apps, contacts etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values.

NOTE: Data located on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected by the reset. For instructions on how you can back up data before the reset, visit this thread. For a guide on restoring data, visit this link.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. Swipe the “Notification” bar down on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings
  3. Access the “General” tab if necessary
  4. Tap “Backup & reset
  5. Clear or check the boxes associated with “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore
  6. Tap “Backup account
  7. If needed, follow the on-screen instructions to sign in with or create a Google account
  8. Tap “Factory data reset
  9. At the prompt, select whether to “Erase SD Card” or not. WARNING! If you enable this option all data on the SD card will be deleted by the reset
  10. When ready, tap “Reset Phone” > “Next” > “Delete all
  11. Press “OK

Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: In case your phone freezes, crashes, or prevents you from resetting it from the Settings menu, you can try resetting the phone from the Android System Recovery menu instead. The Recovery menu can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses, as follows:

  1. First, make sure the phone is turned off
  2. Next, press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” simultaneously
  3. At the “LG” logo, quickly release and re-hold “Power
  4. At the “Factory data reset” screen, release all buttons
  5. From the menu, press “Volume down” to highlight “Yes
  6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  7. Highlight “Yes” when prompted to “Erase all user data and restore default settings
  8. Press “Power” to confirm and wait for your phone to reset and reboot

Check for Software Updates:

NOTE: After the phone has been reset, it’s recommended to verify if new software updates are available for download. To do this:

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings
  3. Access the “General” tab
  4. Scroll to and tap “About phone
  5. Tap “Software info” and check if the new software updates are available for download
  6. Follow the on-screen prompts to download and install any available updates. NOTE: this process will require you to restart your phone
