How-to: LG X5: Change Device Lock and Emergency Alert Settings

Turn On Device Lock:

1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
2. Open “Settings”
3. Scroll to, and tap “Display”
4. Tap “Lock screen” > “Select lock screen”
5. Choose the desired lock screen to use, and follow the on-screen prompts to set it

Change Device Lock PIN:

1. Open “Settings”
2. Go to “Display”
3. Tap “Lock screen” > “Select screen lock”
4. Tap “PIN”
5. If needed, enter your current security option to proceed
6. Enter the new PIN and tap “Continue”
7. Enter the new PIN again to confirm and tap “OK”

Change Device Lock Password:

1. Launch “Settings” and tap “Display”
2. Tap “Lock screen” > “Select lock screen”
3. Tap “Password”
4. If necessary, enter your current lock screen code to proceed
5. Enter the new password and tap “Continue”
6. Enter the password a second time for confirmation
7. Tap “OK”

Disable The Lock Screen:

1. Open “Settings”
2. Access “Display”
3. Tap “Lock screen” > “Select screen lock”
4. Select “None”
5. Enter your current PIN / password to proceed

Manage Emergency Alerts:

1. Launch “Messaging”
2. Tap “Menu” > “Settings”
3. Go to “Advanced settings”
4. Tap “More”
5. Tap “Emergency alerts”
6. Enable or disable “Imminent extreme alerts”, “Imminent severe alerts” and / or “AMBER alerts”

NOTE: Presidential alerts are enabled by default and cannot be turned off.
