WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all personal data on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted, including media files, contacts, ringtones, apps, downloaded content etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values.

NOTE: Data stored on the SD and SIM cards will not be affected by the reset. To learn how you can back up data on the LG Stylo 2 Plus before resetting it, follow this thread. You can also check this thread for instructions on restoring data.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Notification” bar down
  2. Launch “Settings
  3. Go to the “General” tab and tap “Backup & reset
  4. Clear or check the boxes associated with “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore
  5. Tap “Backup account” and follow the on-screen steps to sign in with, or create a Google backup account if necessary
  6. Tap “Factory data reset
  7. When prompted, choose whether to “Erase SD card” or not. WARNING! By enabling this option, all data on the SD card will be permanently deleted during the reset process
  8. Tap “Reset phone” > “Next
  9. Tap “Delete all” > “OK” to confirm

Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, or otherwise prevents you from resetting it via Settings, you can try resetting the phone from the Android System Recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses.

  1. Ensure the phone is turned off
  2. Press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” at the same time
  3. When the “LG” logo appears, quickly release and re-hold “Power
  4. At the “Factory data reset” screen, release all hardware keys
  5. Next, press “Volume down” to highlight “Yes
  6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  7. When prompted to “Erase all user data and restore default settings”, press “Volume down” to highlight “Yes
  8. Press “Power
  9. Once the device is reset, wait for the phone to restart

Check for Software Updates:

NOTE: Once you have reset the phone, it’s recommended to check if new software updates are available for download. To do this:

  1. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Go to the “General” tab
  3. Scroll to and tap “About phone
  4. Tap “Software info” and check if a new software update is available for download
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the available update(s). NOTE: this process will require you to reboot your phone
