Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps doesn’t work properly or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try solving the issues by clearing the app’s cache and/or data.

WARNING! By clearing an app’s data, all personal data saved within the app will be deleted. This includes user profiles, save files, login and credit card information, settings etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the cache.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. If necessary, go to the “General” tab
  3. Access “Apps
  4. Go to “All” and tap the desired application
  5. Tap “Clear cache
  6. If clearing the cache didn’t solve the problems, tap “Clear data” > “Yes” (read WARNING above)

Clear the Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes or runs out of storage inexplicably you can try solving the issues by wiping the cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset, without losing personal data.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to the “General” tab
  3. Tap “Storage” and wait for the device to finish calculating data
  4. Review the amount of cache, then tap “Cached data” > “Yes” to clear it

Note: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can check this thread for instructions on how to master reset the device instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

NOTE: If you’ve installed an app that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you can try removing the app while in Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, all third party apps are disabled.

  1. On the home screen, press and hold “power
  2. From the power management pop-up, tap and hold “Power off
  3. When prompted to “Restart in Safe Mode”, tap “OK
  4. Wait for the phone to reboot. NOTE: Once done, a “Safe Mode” watermark should be visible in the lower-left area of the home screen
  5. To remove an app, first open “Settings
  6. If necessary, go to the “General” tab
  7. Tap “Apps
  8. Swipe to “Download” and select the desired app
  9. Tap “Uninstall” > “OK
  10. Once done, you can exit Safe Mode by rebooting your phone
