WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all your personal data stored on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted. This includes ringtones and media files, downloaded content, apps, contacts etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values, however data stored on the SD and SIM cards will not be affected.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Go to the “General” tab
  3. Tap “Backup & reset
  4. Tick or clear the check boxes associated with “Automatic restore” and “Back up my data
  5. Tap “Backup account” and sign in with your Google backup account if necessary
  6. Tap “Factory data reset
  7. Optionally, tap “Erase SD card”. WARNING! If you enable this option, all data on the SD card will be deleted
  8. Tap “Reset phone” > “Next
  9. Tap “Delete all” > “OK” to confirm

Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: If you are unable to factory reset your phone using the method above, alternatively you can factory reset your phone from the Android Recovery menu. To access it:

  1. Ensure the phone is powered OFF
  2. Press and hold “Volume Down” and “Power” at the same time
  3. At the “LG” logo, release and quickly re-hold “Power
  4. At the “Factory data reset” screen, release all keys
  5. Next, press “Volume down” repeatedly in the menu to navigate to and highlight “Yes
  6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  7. At the “Erase all user data and restore default settings” prompt, highlight “Yes” and press “Power

Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: Once you factory reset your phone, it’s recommended to check if new software updates are available for download. To do this:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Go to the “General” tab
  3. Scroll to and tap “About phone
  4. Tap “Software info” and verify if a new update is available for download
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to install available updates

NOTE: The process will require a reboot.
