Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably, or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache and/or data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted. This includes user profiles, credit card and login information, settings, save files, high scores etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Go to the “General” tab if necessary
  3. Tap “Apps” and access “All
  4. Select the desired app and tap “Clear cache
  5. If clearing the cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” > “Yes” (check WARNING above)

Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. If necessary, access the “General” tab
  3. Tap “Storage” and wait for the phone to finish calculating data
  4. After the phone finishes calculating data, tap “Cached data” > “Yes” to clear the cache

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can visit this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the device.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

NOTE: if you have installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In this model all third party apps are disabled. To access Safe Mode:

  1. Press and hold the “Power” key while viewing the home screen
  2. In the power management pop-up, tap and hold “Power off
  3. At the “Safe Mode” prompt, tap “OK” and wait for the device to reboot (NOTE: Once the phone finishes rebooting, a “Safe Mode” watermark should be shown in the lower-left area of the home screen)
  4. Launch “Settings” and access the “General” tab
  5. Tap “Apps” and access “All
  6. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to remove it
  7. To exit Safe Mode, power-cycle your device as you would normally do. Press and hold “Power” and tap “Power off and restart
