Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your applications freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as it should, you can try fixing the problems by clearing the app’s cache and/or data.

WARNING! When you clear an application’s data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted. This includes login and credit card information, user profiles, settings etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Go to “Settings
  2. If necessary, switch to the “General” tab
  3. Tap “Apps” > “All
  4. Select the desired application
  5. Tap “Clear cache” to clear the app’s cache, or:
  6. If clearing the cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” > “Yes” (check WARNING above)

Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering factory resetting it, you can try solving these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition instead. Doing so can lead to results similar to a factory reset without losing your personal data on the phone’s internal memory.

  1. Go to “Settings
  2. Access the “General” tab
  3. Tap “Storage
  4. Wait for the phone to finish calculating data, and review “Cached data
  5. When ready, tap “Cache data” > “Yes” to clear the cache (the process may take up to a few minutes)

Reboot in Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

NOTE: If you have installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app from within Safe Mode. All third party applications are disabled in Safe Mode by default. To reboot into Safe Mode:

  1. Press and hold “Power” on the home screen
  2. In the power management pop-up, tap and hold “Power off
  3. At the “Safe Mode” prompt, tap “OK” and wait for the phone to reboot. (NOTE: once done, a “Safe Mode” label should be shown in the lower-area of the home screen)
  4. Next up, launch “Settings
  5. Access the “General” tab
  6. Tap “Apps” and go to “All
  7. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” > “OK
  8. After you’ve removed the app, you can exit safe mode by power-cycling your device. Press and hold “Power” and then tap “Power off and restart
