Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: In case one of your applications freezes, crashes, or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache and/or data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted. This includes user profiles, save files, high scores, credit card and login information etc. To avoid losing personal data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. If necessary, go to the “General” tab
  3. Tap “Apps” and go to “All apps
  4. Select the desired application and tap “Storage
  5. Tap “Clear cache” to clear the app’s cache
  6. If clearing the cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” > “OK” (check WARNING above)

Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering factory resetting it, you can try solving these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can lead to results similar to a factory reset without losing any personal data on the device.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. If necessary, access the “General” tab
  3. Tap “Storage” > “Internal storage
  4. Wait for the menu to finish calculating data
  5. Once done, tap “Cached data” > “OK
  6. Wait for the cache to be clear and see if the phone’s behavior changed

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can visit this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the device instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: If one of your third party applications causes issues and prevents you from resetting it, you should be able to remove the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled by default.

  1. On the home screen, press and hold “Power
  2. From the power management pop-up, tap and hold “Power off
  3. At the prompt to reboot to “Safe Mode”, tap “Turn ON
  4. Wait for the phone to reboot. NOTE: a “Safe Mode” watermark should be shown in the lower-left area of the screen
  5. To remove an app, open “Settings
  6. Then go to the “General” tab
  7. Tap “Apps” and switch to “All Apps
  8. Select the desired application and tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to confirm
  9. To exit Safe Mode, simply reboot your phone as you would usually do
