Clear App Data/ Cache:

NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, doesn’t work as intended or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache or data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal information stored within the app will be deleted. This includes user profiles and settings, save files, credit card and login information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app cache.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Go to the “General” tab if necessary
  3. Scroll to and tap “Apps
  4. Select the desired app and tap “Storage” > “Clear cache
  5. If clearing the cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” > “OK

Clear the Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache partition. This can lead to results similar to a factory reset without losing any personal data located on the phone.

  1. Go to “Settings
  2. Access “Phone Management
  3. Tap “Storage” > “Internal storage
  4. Wait for the phone to finish calculating the data
  5. Tap “Cached data” > “Clear

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.

Enable Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: If you have installed a third-party app that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to remove the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third-party apps are disabled by default. To reboot the device in Safe Mode:

  1. Press and hold “Power
  2. In the power management pop-up, tap and hold “Power off
  3. At the “Restart in Safe Mode” prompt, tap “OK
  4. Wait for the phone to reboot. Once it does, a “Safe Mode” watermark should be visible in the lower area of the screen
  5. To remove an app, first go to “Settings
  6. Access “Phone management
  7. Tap “Apps
  8. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” > “OK
  9. After the app has been removed, reboot your phone as you would do normally
