Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps freezes, crashes, doesn’t work as intended or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try solving these issues by clearing the app cache or data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal data stored within the app, such as user profiles, settings, save files, credit card and login information etc. will be deleted. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access the “General” tab
  3. Scroll to and tap “Apps
  4. Select the desired app
  5. Tap “Storage” > “Clear cache
  6. If clearing the cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” > “OK” (check the WARNING above)

Clear the Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your device crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably or doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these problems by clearing the cache partition. This can have similar results as a factory reset without losing personal data from the phone storage.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Phone management
  3. Tap “Storage
  4. Tap “Internal storage
  5. Wait for the device to finish calculating the data
  6. Tap “Cached data” > “Clear

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the device instead.

Enable Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

NOTE: If you have installed a third-party app that causes problems and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default. To boot to Safe Mode:

  1. On the home screen, press and hold “Power
  2. In the power management pop-up, tap and hold “Power off
  3. When prompted to “Restart in Safe mode” tap “OK
  4. After the phone reboots, a “Safe Mode” watermark should be shown in the lower area of the home screen
  5. To remove an app, first open “Settings’ then go to “Phone Management
  6. Tap “Apps
  7. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” > “OK
  8. Once the app has been uninstall, exit Safe Mode by rebooting your phone as you would do normally
