Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps doesn’t work as intended, crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably etc. you can try fixing these issues by clearing the cache/data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including user profiles, save files, login information, custom settings etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access “General
  3. Tap “Apps” and select the desired app
  4. Go to “Storage
  5. Tap “Clear cache
  6. If clearing the app cache didn’t fix the issues, tap “Clear data” > “OK” (check the WARNING above)

Wipe the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can lead to results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data from the phone.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Access “Phone Management
  3. Tap “Storage” > “Internal storage
  4. Wait for the device to finish calculating the data
  5. When ready, tap “Cached data” > “Clear

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can check this thread for instructions on factory resetting the phone.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes problems and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app while in Safe Mode, where all third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Press and hold “Power” on the home screen
  2. From the Power Management pop-up, tap and hold “Power off
  3. At the “Reboot to Safe Mode” prompt tap “OK” and wait for the phone to finish restarting. Note that a “Safe Mode” watermark should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
  4. To uninstall an app, first open “Settings
  5. Next access “Apps” and select to “All apps” if necessary
  6. Tap the desired application
  7. Tap “Uninstall’ > “OK
  8. Once done, exit Safe Mode by rebooting your phone as usual
