Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps doesn’t work as intended, freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably etc. you can try fixing these problems by clearing the cache/data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted. This includes save files, profiles, custom settings, login information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Go to “General
  3. Tap “Apps
  4. Select the desired app and access “Storage
  5. Tap “Clear cache” and if clearing the app cache didn’t fix the issues, tap “Clear data” > “OK” (check the WARNING above)

Wipe the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can lead to similar results to a factory reset without losing personal data from the device.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Phone Management
  3. Tap “Storage” > “Internal storage” and wait for the phone to finish calculating the data
  4. Tap “Cached data
  5. When ready tap “Clear

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t solve the issues, you can check this thread for a guide on factory resetting the device.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode, where all third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Press and hold “power
  2. In the Power Management pop-up, tap and hold “Power off
  3. At the “Reboot to Safe Mode” prompt, tap “OK” and wait for the device to finish rebooting. Note that a “Safe Mode” watermark should be shown in the lower area of the home screen
  4. To remove an app, first open “Settings
  5. Go to “Apps” and select “All apps” if necessary
  6. Select the desired app, then tap “Uninstall” > “OK
  7. After the process is done, exit Safe Mode by rebooting the device as usual
