Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps doesn’t work as intended, freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or doesn’t work as intended you can try fixing the issues by clearing the app cache/data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including save files, custom settings, user profiles, login information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app cache.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access “General” and go to “Apps
  3. Select the desired app
  4. Tap “Storage
  5. Tap “Clear cache” and if clearing the cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” > “OK” (check the WARNING above)

Wipe the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your device crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can lead to results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data from the phone.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Access “Phone Management
  3. Tap “Storage
  4. Go to “Internal storage” and wait for the device to finish calculating the data
  5. Tap “Cached data” > “Clear

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can check this thread for a guide on factory resetting the phone.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

NOTE: if one of your third-party apps causes problems and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to remove the app while in Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Press and hold “power
  2. In the Power Management pop-up, tap and hold “Power off
  3. When prompted to “Reboot to Safe Mode” tap “OK” and wait for the process to complete. A “Safe Mode” watermark should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
  4. Open “Settings” and then access “Apps
  5. Switch to “All apps” if necessary
  6. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” > “OK
  7. Once done, exit Safe Mode by rebooting the phone normally
