Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: if one of your apps doesn’t work as intended, freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache/data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including save files, user profiles, custom settings etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app cache.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access “General” and tap “Apps
  3. Select the desired app and tap “Storage” > “Clear cache
  4. If clearing the cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” > “OK

Wipe the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data from the phone.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Access “Phone Management
  3. Tap “Storage” > “internal storage
  4. Wait for the device to finish calculating the data
  5. Tap “Cached data” > “Clear

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes problems and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode, where all third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Press and hold “Power
  2. In the Power Management menu, tap and hold “Power off
  3. When prompted to “Reboot to Safe Mode” tap “OK
  4. Once the phone reboots, you should see a “Safe Mode” watermark in the lower are of the home screen
  5. To remove an app, first open “Settings
  6. Then go to “Apps” and switch to “All apps” if necessary
  7. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” > “OK
  8. Once done, reboot your phone normally to exit Safe Mode
