WARNING! By factory resetting your phone, your personal data located on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted. This includes media files and ringtones, contacts, downloaded content etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values but data located on the SD storage and SIM card won’t be affected.

NOTE: Before you reset the phone, you can check this thread for a guide on backing up data, and this thread for a guide on restoring data.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Phone Management
  3. Tap “Backup & Reset
  4. Clear or tick the boxes associated with “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore
  5. Tap “Backup account
  6. Select the desired account and tap “Factory data reset” when ready
  7. Optionally, select whether to “Erase SD card” as well
  8. If your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter your password/PIN and tap “Continue” to proceed
  9. Tap “Delete all” > “Reset

Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or otherwise prevents you from resetting it using the method above, alternatively you can try resetting the phone using hardware keys.

  1. Turn the phone Off
  2. Press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” at the same time
  3. At the LG screen, release and quickly press “Power
  4. Release the buttons when you see the “Factory data reset” screen
  5. Next, press “Volume down” to navigate the menu and highlight “Yes
  6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  7. At the “Erase all user data and restore defaults” prompt highlight “Yes” using the volume keys
  8. Press “Power” to confirm
