I've been a Metro PCS subscriber for 3 years and like not having to worry about my minutes. I hate my phone, though. But I don't want to spend the hideous amounts of money my local "official dealer" is charging, or even the slightly less hideous amounts available through their official web site. I have a friend who has one of the phones listed on the Metro PCS website, so I know that it is in theory compatible with the service. He's willing to give me his phone. Will that work or do I have to buy the phone from Metro PCS?

No you just have to make sure that it is a metropcs phone. If the phone you want is listed on their web site then it will work.

Make sure the phone is CDMA and it is unlocked so you can use it with their network. CDMA is what metro uses. if you get GSM or something else then it wont work.

    I love my cellys

If you want a good phone, go to HSN.COM and you can get a phone from 4 to 6 monthly payments and free S&H. I have an LG Stylo 2 with a 5.7 inch screen. I pay 21.98 monthly for 6 months. Go to HSN and you will be happy. Their prices are phenomenal and always flex pay available. Most of the time u can get payments lower than the one I gave you. All you have to do is pay 1st. month payment and you get it between 4 and 7 days. Good Luck!
