It seems like some people are having problems setting up their Yahoo mail on the droid. Here's how to do it.
This will only work if you have Yahoo Mail Plus
- Turn off Wi-Fi Connection
- Click on Email (not gmail)
- Enter your Yahoo login w/ @yahoo.com at the end of e-mail address
- Select Manual Setup
- Select IMAP
- Under IMAP server enter imap.mail.yahoo.com
- Port and other settings remain the same
- Select Next
- Under SMTP enter smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
- Port and other settings remain the same
- Select Next
- Select Account name and update settings
- You should be all setup - test it out

Re: Setup Yahoo mail on the Motorola Droid
According to Verizon (just spoke with them earlier today about the Droid) they claim it is IMPOSSIBLE to sync with Yahoo. They say Windows Live and [especially] GMAIL is fine but they're adamant that Yahoo will not work (unless an Android App becomes available later). Verizon said just access the web browser and go to yahoo from there.
I do not own the DROID (yet!) so I cannot tell you if it's true or not.

Re: Setup Yahoo mail on the Motorola Droid
This worked perfectly for me. I don't have a Plus account. As long as WiFi is off it works like a charm

Re: Setup Yahoo mail on the Motorola Droid
I have been unable to get my yahoo email to work. I have turned the wifi off, but that doesn't seem to do anything different. I plug all the information in as the post above states and when I hit Next, it tells me "unable to open connection to server." Anyone have any other ideas why I can't get yahoo to add as an email account?
Thanks Mark

Re: Setup Yahoo mail on the Motorola Droid
I am filling in all the server settings as instructed, with the Wi-fi turned off and with a 3g connection, but I still get an error. When I hit next after filling out the info on the incoming server settings page, it tells me the the "Setup could not finish: Username or password incorrect." I'm sure that the password and username are both correct. I've tried about 30 times to get this to work, checked all the forums... has anybody had similar problems on their Droid? Anyone have any ideas about how to fix it? I need easy access to my yahoo mail.

Re: Setup Yahoo mail on the Motorola Droid
can anyone really confirm this procedure is for Yahoo Email Plus only
and that there is no other way ?
Thanks
ps: the only work around i found to work with my Droid was to goto this url and it works great and the Droid actually remembers the passwords
Or type this URL into your phone's browser:

Re: Setup Yahoo mail on the Motorola Droid
My phone no longer goes to the smtp page, I setup the imap page and click "Next" and it goes to checking incoming servers, "setup could not finish" - username or password is incorrect.
I had it working on my first droid, but had to trade that droid out for another one, now I can't setup yahoo account.
A Verizon employee told me about k-9 mail app... anyone using that?Last edited by cavitating; 12-16-2009 at 08:36 PM. Reason: adding k-9
