Re: Rooted Droid?
Ah, I get it. Just wondering how much need there is for this since it's supposed to be, "open," if ya know what I mean. Someone will probably write an app which gives you a better interface for mucking around with things in the OS.
I haven't heard anything about it yet. I'm guessing it'll happen soon.

Re: Rooted Droid?
Not yet, they said they might have found a way to "escalate" to root privileges so they can enable root permanently..... it's a software flaw allowing it

Re: Rooted Droid?
NO! if you know anything about linux rooting is just admin access to the operating system.
theres already a terminal app for the android...i wonder what happens if you put in su.....
and if it does ask for su password the only thing you would need is to find the su password. I will be getting the droid nov 26 and am looking forward to messing with the terminal app and seeing what can be done and if su is an option. If su can be unlocked in a terminal environment the world opens.

Oh I know enough about Linux/Unix to be dangerous. Just didn't know if that's what he was referring to.

Re: Rooted Droid?
So I have a question about this whole "root" process. If I were to ROOT my new 2.1 DROID X (before it gets 2.2 FROYO), will a FACTORY RESET actually PERFECTLY Restore the phone back to original out-of-box condition? I realize that anything I Saved or modified on the phone would be lost.
Thanks

Re: Rooted Droid?
I think Root is till maintained... Easiest thing to do is download/buy easy roo... Be advised though EasyRoot is not working on Froyo 2.2
