This is from Droid Forums:
Below are the instrcutions for applying 2.0.1 manually without waiting for OTA Update.
Grab this file https://android.clients.google.com/upda ... 263456.zip
Rename the file to update.zip and place it the root directory of your SD Card.
Power off the phone.
Power on the phone, while holding the 'X' on the physical keyboard.
When you see the triangle and !, press Volume Up + Camera button.
Navigate to "apply update.zip" and press the gold button (center) on the D-Pad. Now it will install.
Reboot phone (should take 3-4 minutes).
Your DROID is now running 2.0.1 instantly without waiting.
I am doing this on mine today. will report back.
EDIT
I was unable to use the file the original link I posted (above) to update. Most people had no problems with it but some of us did. If you experience issues with that link. Try here. I did my update from this site and it worked flawlessly.

Re: Manually Update your Droid
Just did it. Tons of people over on Droid Forums have done it with no problems after the update. The update comes directly from Google servers, too.
Anyway, I'm not a fan of the new lock screen. The phone--overall--feels even more snappy than it did before. The camera app is faster at opening and letting you take another pic. Focusing is about the same speed as before. Haven't taken enough pics to know if they fixed the soft focus issues though.
Browsing the Gallery is MUCH faster though. That's nice.
They did something to upgrade the Facebook app which makes you sign in again. I don't know what they updated (nobody seems to know for sure) but I use Bloo anyway so I don't really care.
So far--other than the lock screen--the update does seem to be an improvement.
