So I am strongly considering switching from my omnia to the droid a.s.a.p. My main issue with the omnia was its poor screen keyboard and being that i have big fingers, its a huge pain in the ass to send texts (im a college student and the head of our hockey team) so i send a gigantic amount of text messages. Is the on screen, and especially the pullout keyboard, easy to use? Or easy to get used to eventually? I've had the omnia for a year without any such luck...

Re: Keyboard opinion
I think it's easy but I'm not a texter. The only thing I can't find is the underscore character with the softkeys. I pull out the keyboard for that.

Re: Keyboard opinion
Yes, it is excellent quality. There are reviews about short battery life. My opinion is the battery life is very good. I just know to turn off Bluetooth & GPS when I don't need them. My battery was down to 40% today after browsing all day today, downloaded a song, and played some music.

Re: Keyboard opinion
I can say from experience the Bluetooth music streaming is high quality. It sounds better streaming in my Ford Fusion Hybrid with Sync then with good headphones in the DROID.

Re: Keyboard opinion
Using the DROID touch screen keyboard in the landscape position increases the size of the keyboard and the keys. I use the talk-to-text App often, and psychically type as little as possible. (large fingers/hands also)
I'm not sure about the Omnia screen, but most screen that I KNOW OF use a pressure touch screen (skin touching the screen)... the DROID, and i think the iphone... uses electrical senses from the skin and requires less of a touch/pressure from the finger. Because of this I do not use a screen protector, the build up grim and oils from the skin... plus a plastic screen protector MAY reduce/interfere with the sensitivity of the TOUCH.

Re: Keyboard opinion
I would physically checkout (Test Drive) the phones, get the feel of holding it in your hand and using the keys/key-board/Touch screen.
I like reviewing my phones as i use it, reviewers usually use a phone a week and give it a write up which is fine as an introduction, i think a person can't really give an in-depth review unless they use a phone daily for at least a month. I've been giving my opinion on the DROID as i use it at the link below...
