I found a Razr phone on a bus. It is a T Mobile phone. I had ATT Wireless which is now Cingular. Assuming the phone was reported lost / stolen is there any way to make it work for me with no risk or should I chuck it? Thanks!

I wouldnt chuck it! lol I guess you can take the SIM card out and put your in there and should work. Or go to your local Cingualr store and ask to get your SIM card changed to the V3.

Unless there was an IMEI block put on the actual handset (done when owner reports it lost to Cingular) you should be able to just insert your SIM into the phone and it will work.

Can you find the owner?
One nite while I was at the casino a man went running by and his cell phone fell from his pocket and landed on the floor at my feet. The guy was running so fast that by the time I picked up the phone and looked for the guy he was already lost in the crowd.
The phone was a V551. The previous day I had left a Cingular store discouraged by the fact that I would have to put a second mortgage on the house just to be able to afford the outrageous deposit that Cingular wanted to start my service. For about five seconds I entertained the thought of seeing what I could do with the phone. The person's contact info was taped to the bottom of the phone so I turned it into security, knowing that within a day or two he would probably get his phone back.
Even had his contact info not been on the phone, I could have gone through his address book and told somebody who knew him that I found the phone and it was safe in my possession. I guess no matter how I looked at it, I tried to think what I would feel like if I ever lost my phone. Maybe if I ever lose my phone, my good deed will be returned to me.
By the way, a few days later I got my V551 at another place for $100 cheaper with a significantly smaller deposit. I saved a bunch of money, so my wife and I both got one. Maybe that was the payback of a good deed?
