to all those who have been wanting more memory and multiple letter searching in the phone book as well as video recording. MOTOX has now fixed the sound bug that affecting this s/w version. The memory is also reported to have been increased to 7mb right off the bat. As always do not attempt to update your phone if you don't know what you are doing and always backup everything on your phone. Pleease please, read, read and read more. I am no responsible for phones turned into coasters!
As always it probably best to wait for a few days for everyone to test it just in case there are other issues.

How do I backup the current software and configurations on my V3? I see that the gurus here recommend backup in case of anything goes wrong. And if something goes wrong, how do i restore from the backup?

I use MPT to backup phone book and calendar entries. Motokit and p2ktools for system files backup. You can also do pb and cal backup with p2ktools. as far as settings like web sessions, mms settings and any other user prefered settings, write them down.

im guessing you need the software and the USB cable to do this...

Yes that is correct but most if not all the software is free and if you'll check my sticky that should get you started
