Anyone know how to disable the audio alert on a RAZR when the phone loses signal from the carrier? No...I do not want to switch to "silent" or "alert"! <g>

Maybe it's my phone...but the only option I get under Network Settings is to change the Band from Automatic to 850/900/1900GHz etc. Am I missing something?

you will have to unlock the advanced options. You can either do it with seem edits or with something like motokit. Do you have a data cable, any software or know anything about modding?

I have a data cable with the standard Motorol sw installed. Never done a mod before but have a programming background. What do I need to install to do this. Called Motorola - they gave me teh usual BS runaround. "This feature is not alloed to be disabled on your phone sir".

of course! let me guess, you get the standard, no, sorry, that is not possible answer? lol

Let's see, all you want to do is unlock advanced options? It's a single bit seem edit to do just the service tone, but you can use motokit and unlock all the features in one shot.

the advanced features that are locked may or may not include....

    Current Network
    New Network
    Network Setup
    Search Type
    Available Network
    My Network List
    Service Tone
    Call Drop Tone

If you have a cable and MPT already set up you may be lucky like me and everything else you install works with no problems.

If you want to install motokit, go to www.motomodders.net and sign up so you can d/l. Got to the downloads section at the top of the page, then software/other software and scroll down and look for motokit v1.6 and d/l it. Here is how you change it to English....

here is the thread about it....

    http://howardforums.com/showthread.p...hlight=motokit

You have to be very careful what features you use. It wasn't made just for the razr but most of it's features work. I use to use it before I learned to seem edit, but only for menu options and gain table settings. The startup/shutdown and backup also works very well. In fact it's one of the few ways to get a full backup and actually create a flex file.

If you would rather do the seems manually so you know exactly what is being done, read this.....

    http://xlr8.us/hofo/

and motox has one with some pics....

    http://motox.us/motox101/seem_editing.htm

there is an easier way to find the correct hex location that's not really listed so if you want to do things this way, let me know, I'll tell ya.

If you need any guides, look in the knowledge section on motomodders.net

If you don't want to mess with all this junk and just want that simple feature added, I'll help you either d/l the seem from your phone to send to me and I'll edit it for you. Or I can send you the seem from my phone. Those features are in seem 0032_001 and it contains a ton of stuff, so i can't just send you mine unless you want everything I have edited in that seem, unless I can find a stock one. I gots some backups around here somewhere! lol

    Troy, Phoneclown...
you don't need to do all that just to turn off your service tone.

Clown, go to settings > network > once there DO NOT press select, scroll one link down to service tone off press change and select OFF > your'e done.

Tony, the ONLY option that I get under Network is to change the band. No other options available! Believe me I tried. I thought that changing the SIM to that of another carrier may help but no luck. I'll try Troy's option above.

I think that I solved the problem without downloads. I inserted a SIM from VodaUK from a business trip last month. Voila! The Network option now has five dropdown options including NETWORK TONES. I turned it off - replaced the Cingular SIM - and it is set. Amazing how Cingular and Motorola support had no CLUE about this. Thanks for the help.

Yea that would have worked great if he had that option available to him. I tried to direct him to do that in my 1st post, and he replied he didn't have that option! maybe you missed it.

actually no i didn't miss it, i thought that maybe he was just selecting "network" and not scrolling down to "service tone"...
what's strange is that with one of my Cingular branded Razrs and sim i still have the option to change the service tone to off...

never the less, he got his problem solved...

Oh I see what your saying. My service tone option is in the network menu. so I go to settings/network and hit select. then I have new network, network setup, avail networks, my networks, service tone and call drop tone as options.
