I've noticed that somehow dust has begun to accumulate in the screen. It's only real noticeable when the screen has gone blank and is black. There are little specs of dust that have somehow made their way in underneath the clearn layer on the screen. I've tried to 'blow' into it to see if it will clean it and have used compressed air/electronic cleaner to no avail.

Has anyone else come across this situation? Any way to clean it out?

    See More: Dusty RAZR...

Yea, this is my 2nd RAZR, the first one I noticed it slightly in the corner. This one I've had for 2 weeks and its practically all over the screen. Not a big deal but still I would think you'd be able to clean it.

The only thing I could think of would be to take the phone apart, but I wouldn't recommend it.

i just yelled at a friend of mine for going back to the same cingular store and getting the razr, his did the same thing he is on his 3rd one now...but its only the black ones, the cingular guy said.

i am on my 2nd razr black one, but that problem never happened to me. The guy said it was common but i know plenty of black users and they never said anything...but hey ya learn something new each day.

I actually have the silver one. If it gets worse I'll just send it in to get replaced.

I get that quite a bit too, just comes from being in your pocket. Not much you can do if thats where you keep it. I take mine apart, I believe a T6 will get thouse screws out, then the only tricky/risky part is getting the LCD off the housing to clean the screen.
You need to remove the Voice record button from the case(use an exact-o knife). Then remove the 2 ribbons coming from the keypad. The screen should then hinge open allowing you to clean off all the dust.

You could, and i might to this, put some sort or seal around the window so that dust CANT get in there... I havent done this yet, just a thought...

There really isnt a whole lot to mess up except for the voice record button. Theres nothing you can break by opening this thing up so the phone will still work when you re-assemble it. It a bit of work though, to get some dust off.

I thought it was from pocket use as well, but low and behold my friend is anal and he uses a leather case and NEVER had it in his pocket.

I also was told by him that cingular said it was black razr only...now i hear silver too. that sucks

I keep my black one in my pocket and i have had mine for a few months now and im all good.

Dust is a common problem on all cell phones, eventually some will get in the screens, some more than others, more and more i've been reading about dust problems on the Razr's screen, i have two black ones and one silver and no dust problems here so far....

While it is a common problem with cell phones, it's an excessive problem with the BLACK V3 Cingular RAZR's and Cingular Warranty Exchange (XBM) is processing exchanges for this now. All other terms of warranty still apply, ie Physical or Liquid damage still voids the warranty regardless of the issue.
