Here is where I was able to get all the programs I needed:
http://www.motoaide.com:8081/download.htm
Here is a really nice turorial I found helpfull. Particularly if your phone doesn't have the java loader installed. The tutorial is for a v220 but everything worked the same for the v3c.
http://www.ic.sunysb.edu/Stu/cdigiam.../v220/tut.html
Here is a site that has lots of free games and other Java programs. The nice thing is you can specify the type of phone you have and then it lists the programs that work on your phone.
http://www.getjar.com/software
Some of the problems I had.
1) finding this information.
2) When I loaded the MPT tool it indicated that it was running live update as it was running so I assumed it was up to date. I needed to run live update after being unsucessfull at running with my phone 2 more times(each required a reboot) before I had the latest version of MPT which then worked without any problems.
3) When I ran the java loader and it asked to connect the cable and then after I connected the cable it was back to where I could invoke the java loader again. This made me think that the jave loader had not worked, in reality this is okay and the phone is ready to accept the downloads.
4) I tried loading games that were not compatable with the phone. Also you need the both the jad and the jar files.
I hope this helps some people have a less frustrating experience loading MPT and loading java games onto there phone.

Mine was unlocked.
you may need to modify the seems(sp?) if that is disabled, but that is not something I needed to do so I don't know how.

I found a much easier way to unlock the Java App Loader. Took me about 30 seconds. All you gotta do is get into the Opcode Menu. To do this, press Menu, then quickly press 048263*. Now that you are in the Opcode Menu:
Enter 47, press OK.
Field1: 50, press OK
Field2: 1, press OK
Field3: 67, press OK
Field4: 1, press OK
Field5(D): 247, press OK
Now, reboot the phone. Go to Menu--->Settings--->Java Settings, and you will see the Java App Loader there.
Just be very careful when entering Opcodes. Do so at your own risk, and do not try to place any blame on me if you should damage, disable, or otherwise turn your phone into an expensive paperweight. Enjoy!

Yeah, I did it to my phone. Worked like a charm, and took less than a minute. Much easier than using PST.

Does unlocking the Java App Loader allow you to put ring tones on the phone?? When you do that process does the multi media option appear in MPT?

Unlocking the Java App Loader makes it possible to add games to your mobile phone

Then I guess that Opcode doesn't work for the V3. Never tried it on one, so I wasn't positive that it would work.

It does indeed get you into the Opcode. The only problem is that the codes moto said to enter after you are in the Opcode are specific for the V555 and not all Moto phone.
One thing I suggest guys, is to make sure you push the * after you enter the numbers he told you to enter after you push the menu button.
Also, the stuff Moto is saying as far I as I know works under Motorola's interface and not Verizon's new UI that all newer phones have.
What I am saying, is as of the LG VX8100, Verizon will be putting their new UI on all phones no matter what type of phone it is or who manufactured it.
Go to your local Verizon Store and pick up the LG 8100, the 9800 or the new Moto razor, all three will have the same user interface.

I guess its whatever works for you.
Once I saw the tutorial and tried the PST It worked without any problems. I also used it for my daughters v300 and it worked the same and was simple enough that I didn't even need to look back at the tutorial. It seems to me that the PST may be safer in that you don't need to enter a bunch of codes and hope you don't make an error that will ruin your phone.
