Help! My daughter bought a new Motorola unlocked Razr on E-Bay. We have Cingular service, but it says "T-Mobile" when you turn it on and on the small out-side screen. The phone works fine, but she won't use it because it doesn't say Cingular (crazy, I know). Can the phone be re-programmed to say Cingular when it is on?

Re: Help - Motorola Razr Question

Hmm, sending the Cingular configuration settings might fix that, I'm not sure, but either way you'll need to send these settings to the phone in order for text messaging, web browser, and a few other things to all work properly. So, give this a try, and let us know whether it works or not.

ps. I'm also moving your thread to the Motorola forum where it will get noticed by someone else who might know more about it than I do. Welcome to CPF, I hope you enjoy our site!

Re: Help - Motorola Razr Question

Not a bad idea to configure a new phone, that way you will also be able to use data on the phone. Phones configured to an old service provider often times say "home" or "tmobile" or "cingular" when they are in their home network. If it is configued to tmobile it is basically saying "home", even though it says tmobile with a cingular SIM in a Cingular area. Once configured it will probably say "cingular". I would bet that it is just symantics and you will be able to make calls just fine on the phone, whatever it says.

Be sure to let us know if that worked!

    Brad....

Doesn't the Cingular FLEX need to be loaded on the phone for it to be "branded" with the Cingular logo?

Well, we tried configuring it from the link you gave us and that didn't work. I checked at a Cingular store, and they told me it couldn't be done unless you were a programmer and could re-program the phone (whatever that means). Any instructions on loading Cingular FLEX???

if you have the time and ambition, follow this detailed walkthrough:

i half-read it and it's pretty cool what you can change on the razr.
