W/ Cingular...need a new phone (gsm). Was going to go w/ the Razr v3...Then read about the Razr v3i. Looks like a better phone / better camera quality etc... However not yet available here in the US. Don't need aphone for music options so that's not important to me...Just sound, reception and general reliability. (if it looks cool that's ok too).

Question is can anyone advise if there are other options I should consider?

Some say Do Not go w/ Moto. Is there a Nokia that's working well for people?...ie: A Razr alternative ?

Until I activate I use an old school Nokia 2260 (hee hee) w/ a digital plan. Works fine, but less and less dig. towers = dropped calls and poor reception outside the city (Philly).

Really appreciate any help here !
    Thanks.

The V3i is currently offered by Cingular, or you can purchase one unlocked.

Then it must not be available in the market you're in yet. You may just need to purchase online somewhere, maybe through Ebay.

Yes, I currently have a RAZR V3 which has fairly good battery life and reception. I've had it for about 6-7 months and no problems so far.

Re: To Razr or Not to Razr

Can anyone comment on how much more $ the v3i is compared to the v3.

I'm not sure what (other than a better camera) the v3i offers that the v3 does not.

    Thanks.

New you can find RAZR V3 for around $100, used for about $50. The V3i new is around $150-$250 on like Ebay.

The exact differences other than pricing between the RAZR V3 and V3i are as follows:
    Favoring V3i
-Secondary display has more colors in V3i (65k vs 4096). Not a big deal.
-RAZR V3i has a card slot, allowing for memory cards. This is the biggest difference, absolutley necessary if you want MP3s and alot of photos.
-Camera is far better in V3i - 1.23 Megapixel vs VGA (VGA = aprox. 0.3 megapixel)
    -V3i is iTunes compatible
    Favoring V3
-Battery is better in V3 - 7 hours talk time in V3 vs 3.5 hours talk time in V3i
-V3 is far cheaper, as Bourn said, $50-100 vs $250 for a brand new V3i (ebay probably has it cheaper, though)

Ok, In considering those pros and cons...The main reason I've been leaning towards the v3i is the better camera.

However, IF the v3 is as reliable in general as the v3i...Then I'd just go for the v3 even though it doesn't compare to v3i's camera.

My main reluctance (w/ the v3) is that I've heard so many people slamming the v3 reliability ?...I've been assuming the v3i may simply put be more of a solid preforming phone in general ? But if this is a incorrect assumption, Please let me know.

    Thanks!

Re: To Razr or Not to Razr

I also have a V3I w/ Itunes and a 1Gig Memory card. I upgraded from a plain v3 and I love My razr v3I. This is a great phone. But if they start making the V3X in quad band so I can use it on cingular network I would upgarde to the X, it has bluetooth two technolgy hince wireless listen to your tunes unlike wired on the v3I.

Check out this Link RAZR V3I from $219 to $459 USD.
