i saw a commerical on tv yesterday for the razr showing it had navigation on it. Does anyone have it yet? How well does it work? I need to buy a new phone, and my new car doesn't have navi, so I was going to buy a Tomtom or something like it. But if i can kill 2 birds with one stone and buy a cell phone with Navi built in, I'd rather do that. So who has Navi on thier cell and how well does it work? In general and compared to navi-specifc units like the TomTom?

    Thanks!

    Jeff

    (great site btw)

    Re: razr with navigation?

Just so you know, the Razr isn't the only phone capable of GPS navigation. You just need a phone with a decent sized screen (preferred not required) and the phone must be capable of running the application. All current Sprint and Nextel phones are all capable of using Telenav, and there was another I was talking about the other day, Garmin... we discussed it in this thread.

I don't have any personal experience with either of them, but just wanted to say a lot of different carriers offer this on many different models of phones, so you're not necessarily going to be forced to get the same phone everyone else has. Try searching your carrier's site (or carrier of choice if you're a prospective cell phone shopper) with keywords like GPS or TELENAV, that'll probably land you the info you're looking for. Good luck!

    Re: razr with navigation?

There is a new Razr coming out that (I believe) does support the GPS navigatino, the Razr V3c or V3m, don't remember tho. BUt yes, it should be coming soon. But I bet it would be a battery eater.

    Re: razr with navigation?

Verizon currently offers the Razr V3m, which is capable of running their proprietary navigation software. Be aware that the software is not "built in" to the phone, you will have to buy it from Verizon.

As Brad said, the V3m is not the only phone offered by Verizon that is capable of running navigation software. The Razr V3c, with the correct firmware update can run it, as well as several other phones currently offered by Verizon.
