A Razr for my gf

Question:

If I buy a razr phone on ebay or some other site...can it be used with her sprint account? I found a deal way better than the sprint store.

Sadly, no, unless if you buy it from Sprint.

Sprint uses the CDMA network, and unlocked phones (phones that can be used on different carriers) are not made very much for CDMA networks, and when you do find an unlocked CDMA phone, Sprint rarely will activate it for you..

The RAZR models V3, V3i, and V3x are intended for GSM networks, entirely different to CDMA networks. These models will only work on carriers such as Cingular and T-Mobile.

You can purchase the RAZR V3m on Sprint for $289 without contract, and then you can give it to your gf to activate it, but you'll miss out on those discounts and rebates.

You could also try and buy one with the rebates and stuff from the Sprint store and then activate it later, too. You'll have to check with Sprint with all of that stuff, though.

If you do happen to find a V3m on eBay or whatever, make sure it is for Sprint. The one for Verizon will not work on the Sprint network!
