do you have drivers installed for the phone? you can get them at motodev.com by registering as a developer (free) then search the site for USB handset drivers

have you suspended the phone to p2k mode? this can be done by using PST or MSU (both can be downloaded from Hacktherazr.com software section) OR you can open hyperterminal or other similar program - connect to the phone with it and send the phone this command:
    Code:
    AT+MODE=8
what version of p2k commander are you using?

Dude, this is very interesting, I mean, I feel like a newbie. What AT+Mode 8 does? How can I use it? I have a Razr V3e, and I downloaded tons of programs to mess around with the phone, you know, testing, but hardly any of them does anything. I have P2K Commander v4.9E and I don't even know how to use it. Don't get me wrong, I successfully unlocked a Razr V3a without any test point, by just downgrading the bootloader. I would really appreciate if you could share more info. Right now I'm trying to unlock the Razr V3e, hasn't been successful yet.

AT+MODE=8 is a motorola specific hardware command that both of those applications that I mentioned will send to the phone to swap the phone from AT mode (modem mode) to p2k mode.

For more info on using hyperterminal to send commands to the phone, I would recommend going to howard forums and searching for the "working v9m mass storage" thread (use the sites search feature after registering). If you have a firmware on that phone other than verizon (which is obvious as verizon does not have a v3e) you may be in luck and be able to send the command AT+MODE=24 to the phone and have instant removable drive access to the phone. it seems to have been verified on different version phones that are NOT running verizon firmwares.

I would link you directly to it but I am not at the required post limit yet.

guys... what kinds of phones do you have (manufacturer/model/carrier/network type)?
do you have drivers installed for your phones?
what version of p2k commander are you using?
do you have the phone suspended to p2k mode?
might be worth asking also what operating system you are using?
-if mac os x or linux, cdma phones will most likely NOT work with p2k commander.

specifics are greatly appreciated when it comes to trouble shooting this problem.

I had the same problem, for some reason the only way to do it was to switch to bluetooth and it got it then.

Re: Why doesnt p2k commander find my phone?

then there must be something that you all are not doing properly. i see no reason why p2k commander will not connect to your phone if you have a p2k capable phone. I will mention that some phones need to have the option set in p2k commander to use p2k05 commands. and there are certain other phones that don't seem to want to connect unless you use a version like 3.3.

Im sure if you experiment enough and ask around in some forums elsewhere you are sure to find a solution for you exact phone model.

Re: Why doesnt p2k commander find my phone?

AFAIK the only way to DOWNgrade the firmware on a phone is to flash it's firmware back to an earlier version using a MONSTER flash file.

Unfortunately the MSU application only goes in one direction and that is UP. For that reason, I keep it's internet access BLOCKED by my firewall. I absolutely loath the idea of having any "up"grades done to my phone accidentally, especially on verizon firmwares since each new one seems to be more and more locked down than the previous ones.

Hmmm. . . this is interesting, I've never heard of being able to use/access your phone with P2K Commander over BT. Please elaborate. As for me, the only thing I thought one could do between their phone and their PC over BT was using MPT, but I guess since MPT only transfers files, I guess P2KC could do it as well, just never done it myself.
    Flashed to Vivo NCR_01.18.00R
    I'm from HTR and parts nearby . . .

    Hi teddy!!

I think what they meant is that they have a phone with a carrier that doesnt lock down blue tooth support and they are just simply using BT to move stuff w/o using p2k commander. That is what I gathered at any rate.

Peeps here aren't as clear about stuff as HTR though it seems.

Why doesnt p2k commander find my phone again?

    Motorola W755
    Windows XP

Yesterday after many hours of problems trying to get my PC to recognize my phone. I downloaded the drivers from the Motorola site and still could not get the phone connected. I finally ended up loading the Susteen driver for Datpilot manually and got the PC to see the phone. Problem is....Datapilot doesn't support transferring ring tones to this model phone.

I eagerly loaded p2k commander. It saw my phone instantly. I began cruising around trying to figure out where in the file structure to put my ring tones. No success. I looked at the file structure of a phone and didn't manage to figure out the right directory for the ring tones. I wrote to the forum, got a perfectly wonderful answer and went back to p2k to follow the instructions I was given and....ARGHHH!!!

Now I CANNOT get p2k to see my phone. I have rebooted, reloaded drivers...removed the battery, torn my hair out. I was thinking it might make sense to uninstall and reinstall p2k. However, it doesn't show up in control panel to uninstalll...so:

    1. How do I properly uninstall p2k?
    2. Is there an instruction manual for idiots that tells me what all the settings in p2k mean??

All I want to accomplish is to get these ring tones on and I'll e happy for the mo:>)

I cannot transfer ring tones using the net because my telephone gets no signal at the ranch...and I need to be able to do the setup here....and my husband considers internet access and downloading from cell phones to be a waste of money and I'd never hear the end of it.

Please , oh knights of the 'puter realm. Teach me the secrets of this puzzle.

Re: Why doesnt p2k commander find my phone?

Not sure about the issue with Datapilot. Were you ever able to get Motorola Software Update (MSU) to recognize your phone? When loading a ringtone on my wife's W755, I first had to connect with the USB cable, then launch MSU, and finally launch P2kCommander ver. 4.9.E (later versions will not work).

BTW, did you check my post (# 38) here:

I have MSU on my computer. I was in the midst of trying to connect in when I had the problem getting the computer to see the phone. I spent ages on the phone with Motorola who told me I shouldn't run MSU because it would erase everything on my phone (yes I have backups of my phone book adn graphics) They tried in vain to help get the phone recognized. It was after I hung up that I had the idea of using the Susteen driver and manually loading teh driver rather than letting Windows search for it.

If I understand your other post, you are recommending starting MSu (do I do something to my phone with it....or just see if they see each other? I haven't tried this with the Susteen driver) then opening P2kcommander...however...since p2kcommander won't see my phone now...I'm still thinking I need to uninstall p2k and then reinstall. How do I uninstall it since it doesn't show up in add remove programs nor does it seem to come with an uninstall utility?

I'd really like to get this headache solved today. I appreciate your help. BTW...I am using the ver of p2k you recommended.
