    Hi all
How can I delete a song that I don't want that is stored in the phone?
I have no idea how it got there, I've format my sd card then I've removed
it went back in the phone in digital audio without the card and found out
that the dam song is actually in the phone instead of the card but I can't seem to be able to delete it.
    Please help
    Thanks
    dobe

Re: Deleting a song in the phone

check to see if the file is locked first. (if it is stock, it might be locked and not able to be removed) if its something you put on there and forgot about (or someone downloaded) it may have a lock placed on it that is removable through the same menu you looked at to try to delete it.

Beyond that, there is some questions that need to be asked if you can NOT do it through the phones interface.

    1. what is the name of the audio file?

    2. is it a song or a ringtone?

    3. have you hacked the phone in any way to try to put free ringers on the phone or such like that?

i could probably tell you where abouts in the filesystem to find that file to delete it through p2k commander, but it would help to know what carrier's firmware is on your phone, what model razr you have, and whether the file is a ringer, media player song, or other type musicfile (which would not be seen in the ringers list or the media player).

First the name is "Gonna be all right" I don't know how the hell I got this song and the artist it is a an mp3 song and it's in the phone, the phone hasn't been hacked. The phone is a razr v3T S/W version R479_G_08.B5.86R and the file is not listed in the ringers list. Hope this help.

does the phone have a transflash card? i forgot to ask that earlier. if it has one, the file may be stored on that card. if not:

get drivers for you phone. (motodev.com)
get p2k commander (google knows where to get it)
MSU or PST (needed for older versions of p2k commander - might not be needed for newer version)

if older version of P2k commander:
    start either MSU or PST
connect phone to comp, let the application recognize it
    start p2k commander.

search the phone filesystem in the following location(s):
(it might be elsewhere, but those are the different locations that I can see on my Verizon v3m.)

    /my_music
    /motorola/shared/ringtone
    /motorola/shared/audio

find the file, and delete it.

first you need to register as a developer, second you need to search the site for "usb handset drivers" the package is all inclusive of the different model motorola phones to date.

    do you bother to read?
    1. they stated that the phone is v3t
    2. i stated that the driver package works for all motorola phones supported at the time of the latest driver package release.

heres a link to them i just found on a buddy's mickey mouse server (that way you don't have to go about registering and searching):

OK, now it's on, pal! Just kidding. But a "mickey mouse" server? If YOU had to deal with this thing hummin' away 24/7 like the BEAST it is in the next room, I'd say more like a wooly mammoth, or at least a big fat rat! hehehe.

But to further this post, yes, that is the file and location and you do not have to register or search for that driver file to get it.

I am the owner of that location for said file.

If connections for you become an issue I will politely oblige. I don't wanna kill your home network or anything.

Re: Deleting a song in the phone

@ spikejones, no, like I said in the PM, don't worry about it. If it becomes a prob, we'll cross that bridge if the river overflows it's banks.

Now, for the OP. Obviously it's not a stock ringer, I/we hope that the info posted here will help you out.

For other readers, however, I have read WAY TOO MANY POSTS about ppl trying to delete their 'stock' ringers/pics and such and they almost ALWAYS HAVE problems. I would NOT suggest doing so unless you really pay attention to which of these files are assigned to things on your phone.

    My two peso's worth.
