I have an older RAZR-V3 and just purchased a RAZR-V3xx to replace it. The new phone came with version 3.9 of Mobile Phone Tools. After I installed Mobile Phone Tools, I was able to transfer my phonebook entries, sounds and pictures to my computer from the old phone. However, my new phone, the v3xx is not recognized (does not initialize), not allowing me to transfer my phonebook, sounds and pictures to the new phone. I purchased Avanquest Mobile Phone Tools 4 & upgraded to version 5. The new software does not recognize the v3xx. It seems that the new phone modem is not being recognized. What other way, other than coping to the SIM card, can I transfer my phonebook, sounds and pictures? I rather not copy to the SIM card because I then must copy all of the phone book entries to the new phone and edit the contacts (home, business or cell phone indicators). BTW, I tried 2 USB cables. Both cables recognize the v3xx. The phone charges once connected to the computer. I tried on 2 computers, 1 P4 2.2 with Windows XP Home with all updates, and 1 I Core 7 with Windows 7 Home Premium with all updates, with the same results.

Side question: must I purchase an extra card or chip to store my music library on the v3xx? If so, how does that work?

Problem resolved. I was able to transfer from my old phone to the new phone on the Cor I7 computer using Mobile Phone Tools version 5.
