    hello. where i'm from we dont have any verizons or sprints and so on. our cell phones are double the prices of an unlocked phone!!! so...if i was to purchase a phone on contract so i can get it for much less, then unlock it, are there any consequences if i just cancel with them after i have my phone? do i have to return the phone?

    The term you are refering to is Early Termination Fee (ETF)
    ETF is generally $100 -$200 per line, and the unreturned phone will be rendered bad ESN
