first just wondering if you can record video on your v300

second, how do you change the text messaging format (from the guessing smart text thing back to normal)

    thanks

Yes you can, you'll need some extra phone apps and maybe to flash flex your phone to upgrade.

Your v300 already supports mp3 ringtones.

Your mp3's may not be configured correctly for your phone. If you made them yourself be sure that their ste up with 64 kbps, stereo (doesn't really matter just what I use) and 16000 hz. Try using those settings and let me know how it goes.

The 64 kbps really isn't a must it's just what moto uses for most of their mp3 tones and any bigger you won't reconize the sound difference anyways.
